You have reached an old version of this site.
I have left it up so that people who have linked to it can still find what they are looking for. For the most up to date version of the site, please click the header, or click here. You can still find the same pics and toys as in this archived version of The BEM, but you'll also find my blog and any newer content I've added. Thanks! |

Slave
1
The Slave 1, as I'm sure you already know, was Boba
Fett's ship. The die cast version of the ship does a
pretty good job of replicating the craft. The detail
work in the metal of the body is quite good, as is the
interior of the ship as viewable from teh cockpit.
Slave 1 has two moving parts, a rotating tail gun and
rotating spoilers. The gun's axis is fairly tight and
requires you to position it. The spoilers rotate freely
in their axis, so as you move the ship, the spoilers
rotate into a level position.
Unless you're a big Fett fan, this is one of the more
dull of the die cast toys.

Rebel
Armored Snowspeeder
Let me say up front that I have an irrational attachment
to this toy. I don't know what it is about Snowspeeders,
I just like 'em.
The die cast version has almost nothing cool about
it at all. There are two moving parts, the harpoon gun
in the back rotates and on the bottom is a landing gear.
The guns are plastic and have a tendency to bend out
of shape. The detail in the die cast body is also pretty
good.

Twin
Pod Cloud Car
It seems like with the whole third series of die cast
ships that Kenner just sort of gave up. The car looks
nice, but the only moving part is a landing gear that
never works. The detailing of the body is good, but
it just doesn't seem like the toy designer for this
ship was too excited about his job.
Still, cloud cars are pretty easy to come by and look
good as part of any collection.
